How to Create Product Variations

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of effectively managing multiple product options on your Unqueue store and show you how variations can make order management a breeze! 🛍️👨‍💼.

Unqueue gives businesses flexibility in setting up their stores and products. We launched our platform with Add-ons, which allowed business owners to create free or paid options for each product. But, after feedback from our stores, we realised that this feature needed to be expanded and fine-tuned. The result is Variations.

In this guide, we'll take you through the following to help you understand and use this new, more robust system for creating and managing multiple product options on your Unqueue store:

What are Variations? (aka: choices, choices!)

Variations are Unqueue's newest feature. They allow businesses to customise groups of add-on options for any product, such as multiple toppings, sizes, or colours, while making it easier for shoppers to select multiple options. Let's say a sushi business creates a Variation Group called Flavours; under Flavours they can create options such as Crab, Shrimp, Veggie, etc., specifying the minimum and maximum number of options a shopper can select. For example, out of eight flavours, a business can specify that their shopper needs to select at least one, but that they can select no more than four. Variations bring a much higher level of control and organisation to the options that you're able to offer your shoppers.

How Variations affect Basic and Premium Add-ons

Businesses that set up their stores before January 2022 would have done so using Basic and Premium Add-ons. You can view these by going into the Product Variations tab on the main menu on your phone or web browser. Variations are meant to replace your Basic and Premium Add-ons; you can either edit them or create new ones – whichever suits your products best.

⬇️Below you can view how to add, create, and/or edit new or existing product variations for Web and Mobile App. ⬇️

Making Variations Work for Your Business

Customers are more interested in products with Variations. Why? Because it gives them more control in creating personalised and customised products and therefore improves their overall experience when they shop your Unqueue store.

Here are some ways you can make Variations work for your business:

  • Create bundle deals - With bundle deals, you can create "Make your own Bundles" which allows shoppers to choose which products they want to be in their package. With bundles, you can also help shoppers discover new products or create deals that save them money.
  • Fine-tune your products - Variations paint an accurate description of your product and what it has to offer. Use Variations to show shoppers the many features of your product.

If at any time you have questions about Variations, you can reach out to Unqueue’s support team using the in-app Help button.
